Tri-fold phone from Samsung: Everything we know about the “TriFold”

Samsung is preparing to expand its foldable phone lineup with a new form.
Just a few months after the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 were released, the tech giant is now reportedly working on a "tri-foldable" device.
Although its official name has not been announced yet, the device has begun to be referred to as the “Samsung TriFold” in technology circles.
HUGE SCREEN
According to leaks, the Samsung TriFold will feature a three-panel display thanks to two hinges. This will provide a much wider display area than the Z Fold 7. This could offer a new alternative for users who want both smartphone and tablet functionality.
While Samsung hasn't officially unveiled the device yet, it confirmed the TriFold's existence during its recent earnings call. According to Mashable, this suggests the project is in an advanced stage of development.
WHAT WILL BE ITS FEATURES?
According to technology site SamMobile, the device will be very similar to the Z Fold 7 in terms of hardware.
The 6.5-inch cover display will be the same size as the Fold 7. However, the massive 10-inch display inside is significantly larger than the Fold 7's 8-inch panel. This difference could make the TriFold one of the largest-screen phones on the market when unfolded.
The device's thickness remains a question mark. However, Samsung has made significant strides in thinness recently with the Z Fold 7 and Galaxy S25 Edge. The TriFold is expected to achieve similar design success.
BATTERY EXPECTATION
Battery capacity hasn't been revealed yet, but according to a Korean patent application spotted by PhoneArena, the device will have three battery cells, each housed in a separate compartment of the device. This system aims to provide sufficient battery life for a device with a large screen.
As for pricing, there's only speculation. The Z Fold 7 starts at $1,999.99. The TriFold is expected to be even more expensive.
WHEN WILL IT BE INTRODUCED?
Yonhap News, one of South Korea's leading news agencies, reported that Samsung will showcase its new foldable device at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in South Korea from October 31 to November 1.
This means the device will be unveiled at the end of October and could hit the market before the end of the year.
There's also speculation that the TriFold might not be exclusive to the Asian market. According to SamMobile, the device could launch in the US after the United Arab Emirates, China, and South Korea. However, the global launch is likely to occur on different dates.
